Expanding Information Literacy delivery options

Initiative TitleExpanding Information Literacy delivery options
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

In addition to the standard 50 minute class and embedded librarian program, explore and develop alternative yet still effective information delivery options. This initiative may include increased libguide type of formats embedded within Angel, development of video segments, modules targeting specific student learning outcomes, etc. The library estimates the existing library instruction program as it is currently constructed  impacts perhaps 1000 students per semester. That means there are many students who are never formally instructed in how to effectively do library research. By exploring alternative means of delivering the information, we may be able to reach more of these students.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Students will be at a disadvantage when attempting college research at Orange and when they transfer.

Department GoalsProvide an effective program of Library Instruction where students will learn the methods and processes necessary to effectively carry out scholarly research.
