Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | The Workforce Development Division of CAPE has had its challenges over the last year, having its director and program specialist leave the college for other pursuits. Divisional changes are underway, with a new Vice President overseeing the division, a soon to be announced Director, and two program specialists assigned to the department. With this newfound support comes many opportunities to tackle areas in need of streamlining processes, as well as greatly increasing employer and community outreach to bolster our presence in the community as a guiding force for Pathways education, as well as having the bandwidth for a deep dive into the needs of the local and regional industries.
This will be done in a number of ways, including conducting industry roundtables, community outreach and tabling at community based organizations, such as local libraries, places of worship, High Schools, job fairs and industry events; reaching out to already established business contacts to re-engage and discuss grant-funded employee training programs; and having discussions with CBOs, and state and federal entities in order to increase student scholarship offerings through braided funding through these entities. |
Department Goals | Successfully launch and reach maximum recruitment for Reimagine CPhT and High Needs CPhT programs, as well as Future of Work Centers Manufacturing Machine Operator (HAAS) program in collaboration with Pine Bush High School , Increase industry-based relationships by 25% with employee WFD upskill training programs, Increase braided funding opportunities between SUNY, federal, state, local and private grants, as well as scholarship funding opportunities through organizations such as the OC Workforce Development Board |
