Our students' demand for counseling services cannot be met, given the Director's loss for the Wellness Center. A full-time director is needed to provide counseling services to the student population, including conducting counseling intakes, mental health consultations, and counseling sessions. Also, this position would continue to provide administrative support to the Wellness Center and its staff members. The Director would also provide psycho-educational outreach programming to include workshops and support groups for the campus community.

To provide counseling services, outreach programming, and administrative oversight of the Wellness Center's specific staff members and leadership.

This position is needed to meet the demand for counseling services and to oversee the Wellness Center effectively.

Counseling services were being provided by the Director and one full-time mental health specialist. The Director position has been vacant since January 2020.

This hire would meet the increasing demand for mental health services on our campus. Research has shown that counseling services available on campus for students support retention.

We cannot meet the demand for mental health services and prevention programming. We would not be operating under what is considered best practice for the ratio of mental health providers to the total student population provided on a college campus.
