| Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | Since Elant has been awarded $101,176 from the NYS Dept of Health Health Workforce Retraining Initiative to fund training for its nurses, we will be implementing training for approximately 200-250 LPNs for Elant. We have identified 33 other assisted living facilities in Orange County, many of whom face staffing, retention and promotion challenges. We need to facilitate a forum at which the CEOs of these facilities can give us their input on how SUNY Orange can assist them in being more efficient, effective and profitable. The industry forum model has been very successful for us in the past. We still have clients from our Healthcare and Banking Industry projects, and clients are still requesting training programs that were developed as a result of input from these industry leaders. Evaluations of these programs are consistently Very Good and Excellent. |
| Consequences of this initiative not being funded | If we fail to invest in first-hand research into the assisted living industry, we will incur substantial lost opportunity costs. We will not develop relationships with leaders in this industry, and we will not develop new training programs to assist them. This will limit our ability to keep pace with the training needs of employers in the Orange County employment marketplace, and will put us at a disadvantage as we try to be a valuable partner in economic and workforce development in the county. |
