The Office of Admissions continues to investigate new and innovative ways to communicate with our students. In an effort to compete with sister institutions, we feel that texting can directly impact how quickly students complete the  steps needed to enroll into SUNY Orange. We have found over the past few years that fewer students are checking their emails, even though we stress the importance that this is our official method of communication. The types of things we will communicate will be:

  • Placement Tests
  • Admission Events
  • New Start Workshop Registration
  • Start of Term reminders

Students would opt-in to receive text messages when they submit their application for admission. If they do not wish to receive text messages, the could opt-out.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

If we are unable to implement this initiative, we will miss out on the opportunity to have a more direct method of communication with our students. This is a great opportunity to give students a more instant and direct way to complete the enrollment process.
