Initiative Title | Managed Detection and Response |
Submitted in Previous Year(s) | No |
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | The need for a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) application became apparent with the October 23, 2023 cybersecurity incident. An MDR is a set of applications and backend third-party support that will detect and respond to possible cybersecurity events. Currently, the college has an alert system that requires a member of the ITS staff to be available to respond to an alert. The MDR will respond more quickly and allow for continuous monitoring and reaction even during hours that the college's ITS staff are not active. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | The college will continue to have periods of time when ITS staff are unable to respond in a timely manner to possible cybersecurity events. |
