Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | We have been struggling with retaining student enrollment in our program due to the lack of transportation home for our students. Over the course of three months we have over 25 students disenroll, no show or attend infrequently due to the fact that parents are unable to pick them up from the program during the dismissal time. The NECSD had provided transportation home for the Spring 2022 session, however, upon requesting assistance for the 23-24 year they were unable to assist due to budget restraints. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | SUNY Orange LPP will continue to see a decline in enrollment, attendance, and retention of students from the NECSD. The decline could lead to the program being placed on probation for not meeting its enrollment grant number, which is 240. This will also hinder SUNY Orange Community Colleges' goal to provide programs and services that support and serve our county’s educational, economic, civic and cultural needs, as SUNY Orange LPP provides these services to students with the the City of Newburgh, Town of New Windsor, Vails Gate, and Town of Newburgh. These students receive support with academics, socio emotional learning activities, mental health, cultural & social exposure events that are held primarily on the Newburgh campus. |
