Initiative Title | Recruitment and retention of faculty |
---|---|
Submitted in Previous Year(s) | 2015 |
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | The Nursing department faces a significant challenge of recruiting and retaining new faculty, while competing with higher salaries paid to nurses outside of academia. Currently there is one full-time tenure track vacancy and two faculty full-time temp lines. Five faculty are participating in the PRT process this year for retention and tenure. It is critical that we not only attract quality full-time faculty, but we need to foster their development and success as nurse educators. Two full-time tenure-track faculty lines are projected to be vacated after the spring semester. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | Program quality will negatively impacted; NCLEX scores will drop below state average and could result in program closure; continued high attrition rates in the Nursing department. |
