| Initiative Title | Renew certification for the CASAC program with NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) |
| Submitted in Previous Year(s) | No |
| Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | The current certification for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) training program will need to be renewed for the 3 year period beginning in AY 2016-17. Review current course content and roster of approved instructors, make necessary changes/additions, and submit application to OASAS for renewal. Review and consider additional resources to be used in teaching (book(s), DVDs, media resources). |
| Consequences of this initiative not being funded | If OASAS does not renew the certification for SUNY Orange to conduct the CASAC program, the day and evening sections would not be offered causing a loss of educational services to local residents who seek to obtain this credential and to professionals who wish to re-credential. Discontinuance of the program would also result in loss of income to the College. |
