Renew certification for the CASAC program with NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS)

Initiative TitleRenew certification for the CASAC program with NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS)
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

The current certification for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) training program will need to be renewed for the 3 year period beginning in AY 2016-17.  Review current course content and roster of approved instructors, make necessary changes/additions, and submit application to OASAS for renewal.  Review and consider additional resources to be used in teaching (book(s), DVDs, media resources).

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

If OASAS does not renew the certification for SUNY Orange to conduct the CASAC program, the day and evening sections would not be offered causing a loss of educational services to local residents who seek to obtain this credential and to professionals who wish to re-credential.  Discontinuance of the program would also result in loss of income to the College.
