Reserve textbook purchase pilot

Initiative TitleReserve textbook purchase pilot
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

The library loans out reserve textbooks to students and is a very popular program in both campus libraries. The main purpose is for students to have access to textbooks they can use in the library to finish assignments and study. Additionally this brings students into the library where librarians and staff have a chance to interact with students so they can see the full benefits of the library. Right now the program relies on faculty getting copies of text books that can be put on reserve. This limits subject of textbooks the library can offer. A second effect is when the books wear out they become unusable and there is no option for replacement.

The purchase pilot will target selected subjects for textbook purchase based on usage and availability of textbook for purchase.
