The Office of Academic Advising provides academic and career guidance with a focus on first semester students. Our team, the First Year Support Team, in support of the Guided Pathways framework, aims at helping students clarify their academic goals beginning during the onboarding process. Our goal is to help students identify and engage on a meaningful career path through intentional academic planning during their first semester. We seek strong collaborations across campus to support initiatives that foster community building through first year activities, and access to timely information, tools and services that support academic planning, graduation and transfer.

In March 2022, the College purchased Starfish or Orange Connect, its branding name, for implementation at the College. Orange Connect allows for a stronger collaboration with key offices to support students holistically. The Office of Academic Advising was actively involved in training for implementation as part of phase 1 for main offices. Orange Connect replaced key software that is central to day to day management of office operations on October 3rd, 2022.  We will continue to work on implementation and exploration of its features and workflows during this academic year to streamline support to students in a timely and equitable manner.
