Office of Accessibility Services (OAS)
The Office of Accessibility Services is committed to promoting equal access and opportunities to qualified students with disabilities. Our goal is to increase awareness of disability issues and provide opportunities for students with disabilities to fully integrate into the college community.
Student Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of a semester, students registered with the Office of Accessibility Services will be able to:
- Identify their specific disability and functional limitations resulting from the disability;
- Demonstrate the ability to determine and state their accommodation needs;
- Describe the process involved in requesting disability accommodation for curriculum requirements
Outcome Indicators:
- Actual usage of services by students
- Annual satisfaction survey
- Interaction and feedback from students, faculty, and staff
- Academic success of students i.e. Satisfactory course completion and degree attainment
Goals:
- Surveying faculty, in order to assess their familiarity with services and their role in assisting students with academic accommodation.
- Explore technology and equipment needed for upgrade and expansion.
- Identify funding sources for upgrades of technology.
- Continue to assess our services by offering our students the survey online.
- Work with the Center for Teaching and Learning to offer increase awareness of disability as a diversity issue and provide support to faculty seeking to integrate disability into their respective curricula.
- Remain current on best practices and implement where appropriate.
