The mission of the SUNY Orange Department of Criminal Justice is to provide qualitative educational programs in the areas of Law, Justice, Corrections and Law Enforcement. Through this programming, our students develop skills and knowledge that prepares them to continue their education and/or to pursue entry level careers in the field of criminal justice.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

# Department Goal
1 Complete the reengineering of the AS and AAS degree to meet the recommendations of the SUNY Seamless Transfer initiative and our external review.
2 Provide security guard certification to students upon completion of the CRJ 107 course
3 Review and edit all SLO’s for all courses and develop a curriculum map and develop assessments for our program student learning outcomes.
4 Collaborate with the English Department to develop a learning community project at the Newburgh Campus. One of our CRJ 101 courses in the Spring will be selected for this project.
5 Collaborate with the Department of Movement Science to explore the possibility of developing a 3 credit course for students seeking employment in law enforcement agencies.
