Planning for the Dental Hygiene program for the next academic year is based on continuing to provide the students and faculty with the best possible environment for the teaching learning / process as the students progress through the learning continuum from novice to competent. The planning process will also address the Commission on Dental Accreditation(CODA) standards for Dental Hygiene programs, state regulations, current trends of the workforce and the institutional plans and goals.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1 To replace clinical equipment that would be considered a capital item and could not be purchased from the instructional line- specifically ultrasonic units and operator stools.
2 To replace the original suction unit for the clinic.
3 To regain the 2.5 day part time clerk position for the Dental Hygiene Clinic Reception.
4 To acquire a designated classroom/lab for the Dental Hygiene students in the Bio Tech building.
5 To refurbish the locker room and dark rooms.
6 To regain the FT Tenure track faculty position that was eliminated due to retirement AY 2013-14
7 Purchase clicker for classroom use to survey student knowledge and opinion
8 To purchase Xray model and stand for student practice with the digital panoramic xray machine
9 To maintain Dextrr Radiology models as needed and send to summer camp for refurbishing if necessary
10 To investigate sponsoring and implementing a Certificate program for the Community Dental Health Coordinator through the American Dental Association
