The Education department plans to focus on four primary areas during the upcoming academic year. First, we hope to reconvene our Early Childhood Education Advisory Board. This will allow the department to formally introduce our current programming, and to solicit feedback from our community partners regarding the preparedness of our graduates. This collaboration will also help the department to learn about the needs of the Early Childhood community. Second, we hope to work together with the college as a whole to continue the investigation of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). We, as a department, believe in awarding college credit to those who have attained respected credentials in the field of early childhood. Third, we hope to increase student and community awareness of our Early Childhood Foundations microcredential, which stacks seamlessly with our Early Childhood Certificate and our Early Childhood AAS program. Finally, we hope to continue providing comprehensive advisement to our current students, with a strong focus on highlighting more recent transfer opportunities.

1 Restructure and reconvene an Education Advisory Board to increase outside knowledge of our programming and to elicit valuable feedback.
2 Investigate awarding Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) to early childhood workers toward the completion of the Early Childhood AAS degree or the Early Childhood Certificate program.
3 Increase student and community awareness of our Early Childhood Foundations Microcredential.
4 Clarify transfer options and develop advising materials to increase awareness of transfer opportunities for education students.
