2013 - 2014 English Plan

A general statement (narrative) about what the department wants to accomplish.

The Goals for the English Department for the 2013-2014 Academic Year are as follows:

To complete the transition of the Reading Lab into a Reading Center designed to support the development of students’ reading skills by having them work one-on-one with an instructor or professional tutor
To work collaboratively with the Math Department and the Developmental Oversight Team to continue to expand the current college readiness offerings, including the Pre-semester Interventions and Summer Institute
To continue and expand the outreach of the Writing Consultancy to provide student and instructor assistance in writing across the curriculum through the efforts and supervision of the Writing Consultancy Coordinator
To re-examine the purpose and requirements of the mandatory research paper in Freshman English 1 and 2
