A general statement (narrative) about what the department wants to accomplish.

Advocacy for IDS continues: the "department" should be taken more seriously as it offers opportunities that many seem to either not understand or consider. IDS can provide a vehicle to expand (in a sincere and meaningful manner) our DEISJ efforts with degrees, programming and opportunities for students and faculty. The departmental programming and footprint easily could be expanded with several of the low to no cost goals and initiatives.

1	Provide annual funding for students & faculty to participate in conferences and other experiential learning and community-building opportunities
2	Explore and expand course offerings as appropriate, including DEISJ opportunities
3	Increase enrollment and retention in IDS and HUM courses
4	Make connections to other areas and groups, both on and off campus
