The Nursing Department is committed to preparing graduate nurses to meet the challenges of health promotion and disease prevention in the 21st century.  We believe that we can achieve this end through our identified department goals.

1. Graduate a technologically competent nursing student who can achieve program outcomes.

2. Enhance mentoring of nurse educators to ensure retention, role development and achievement of learning objectives.

3.Utilize high quality tutoring, faculty advising and other initiatives to increase student retention rates.

4.Establish dual enrollment agreements that meet the higher education needs of graduate nurses.

5. Provide quality clinical instruction through creative modalities. (such as Simulation, Stat of the Art on campus teaching labs, Morrison Lab School)

6. Collaborate and establish partnerships with public and private agencies to achieve program outcomes.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

# Department Goal
1 a. Integrate EMR software into the curriculum.
2 b. Provide for faculty stipend for mentoring of new full-time faculty and establish a clinical coordinator position for mentoring of part-time clinical faculty.
3 c. Increase student retention rates by 5%.
4 d. In collaboration with the Office of Educational Partnerships create one new articulation agreement each academic year.
5 e. Upgrade on campus simulation and skills laboratories.
6 f. Review current membership of Advisory Board to include membership of both private and public agencies in the community so as to support achievement of program outcomes.
