The Physical Therapist Assistant Department plans to continue to provide high quality academic programming to engage our learners in an environment preparing them to enter into a diverse clinical arena.  This will be achieved by promoting knowledge, skills, critical thinking and professional competency in the classroom, lab and clinical environment.  The Department plans to continue to develop and teach information and technology literacy to address our diverse cultural population, facilitate effective communication and insure our graduates will be able to enter the profession with a background to advance their professional lives through lifelong learning and civic responsibility in the role as a physical therapist assistant.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1 Development and use of Angel course shells for remaining PTA Program courses; PTA III and Test and Measurements for the PTA
2 Develop and hold two Continuing Education courses for local therapeutic community at large
3 Pursue/complete articulation agreements with college(s) offering the Doctorate in Physical Therapy – in specifics Mercy College
4 Obtain funding and purchase additional equipment to maintain both Accreditation Standards and local industry standards – specifically, specifically, Interactive Television with DVD, replacement US/Electrical stimulation unit for the PTA Laboratory; BT 103
5 Revise and enhance the Admissions processes for entrance into the PTA Program
