Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	Astronomy is one of our most popular courses, yet we have only been able to offer one section per semester due to the difficulty of finding qualified adjucts to teach the course. A full time Astronomy-Physics teacher could teach 3 evening sections of astronomy and 1 or 2 day sections of physics or physical science for a full load. This position would also include community outreach, offering observing sessions for the general public, hosting lectures on current discoveries and topics, and hosting local public schools for start parties. This wouyold also require a committment from the college top purchase some larger telescopes and observing equipment. The possibly of building an observatory or planetarium should also be explored.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	It is difficult to find part-time teachers with the appropriate background to teach our college level astronomy course.
