Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleThe SUNY Orange OTA Program will develop innovative learning experiences designed to expand community-based learning opportunities for students and to foster reciprocal relationships between academic and community partners to promote delivery of occupational therapy services through the formation of Community Connections: Partners for Learning and Service ***This is a potential revenue producing project, through fees for service, grants and rental income of OTA lab space to OT practitioners*** Examples of available programs include: 1. The Health Professions Problem-Solvers Network: A brainstorming network for use by community members seeking rehabilitation related information. Such as consulting for home modifications and adaptations for individuals with physical challenges. 2. OT “Learning/Living Laboratory Resources, information and innovative occupational therapy services available to community members utilizing the SUNY Orange OTA lab facilities. 3. The Sensory Motor and Recreational Transition Program (S.M.A.R.T.) A summer day camp program for children who receive OT services through their school districts during the academic year but do not receive services during the summer. A moderate tuition would be charged to families. 4. Parent/Child Play groups A collaborative program with the SUNY Orange Early Childhood Education Program. Weekly play groups offering a family centered fun way for children who may be experiencing a developmental delay and their parents to join other parents and children in exploring ways to create and enjoy play activities.
