Complete Outfitting Newburgh A&P 1&2 Labs

Initiative TitleComplete Outfitting Newburgh A&P 1&2 Labs
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleThe Biology Department is now offering a complete sequence of Anatomy and Physiology at the Newburgh Campus. Due to existing budgetary limitations the Biology Department was asked to defer some instructional items ( Anatomic Models ) initially included in our planning request document. With this initiative we seek to redress this and provide our labs with optimal instructional material. Specifically needed are the following models: Skin, Bone, Shoulder, Functional Hip,Colored Skull, Brain Stem and Spinal Cord.
Consequences of this initiative not being fundedModels allow students to see a three-dimentional view of an anatomic structure, particulartily helpful to visual learners. They often enhance the student's understanding of structure and function. Without optimal access to such materials students are limited to 2 dimensional illustrations in lab manuals or text, creating conceptual issues for some. As a Department we are trying to ensure parallel learning opportunities at both Newburgh and Middletown venues, having our labs equipped with models is most important in meeting this goal.
