The Center for Student Involvement seeks the creation of an Assistant Director position in order to:

-support the growing demands of the student population while still seeking to engage more students in co-curricular programs and applied learning opportunities

-allow the continuation/development of new programs centered around college priorities including civic engagement and diversity and inclusion

-support SUNY Orange's commitment to Guided Pathways and the goal of "inescapable student engagement" as stated in the GP model

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

One of the objectives in the Strategic Plan is to "Increase student retention, completion, transfer and employment readiness."  Studies consistently demonstrate that co-curricular programs contribute greatly to each of these areas.  The CSI requires additional staffing in order to meet its expected contributions to the college's Strategic Plan.
