Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	There is no AA/AS degree with a specific focus on Teaching Careers. Currently, the generic transfer degree(s) may list "Foundations of Education" as an interest area, but this is not an optimal avenue for the most appropriate courses to be taken. None of the Education courses at this point are considered Liberal Arts electives, so any EDU courses a student takes are limited to the 9 (AA) or 12(AS) "free" electives.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Students interested in teaching careers would continue to be offered generic degree sequences, possibly missing more appropriately focused education courses. A specifically designed degree with teaching careers as a designation would provide applicable course work, and potentially related field work, to those pursuing careers in the teaching arena.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 2: To provide appropriate credit and non-credit programs to satisfy changing Orange County needs and demographics.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
AMP II: Curriculum Change/Program Design c: Identity, review and assess the common academic core that should exist in all AA, AS and AAS programs
AMP II: Curriculum Change/Program Design h: Increase program articulation agreements to ensure a seamless transfer and to broaden career paths for students
