Create system to identify JRTEP students needing seldom offered courses, and devise a plan to assure these courses will be available when needed.

Initiative TitleCreate system to identify JRTEP students needing seldom offered courses, and devise a plan to assure these courses will be available when needed.
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleJRTEP course sequences are narrowly defined, and contain specific courses accepted by SUNY New Paltz. In the past several of these, typically some higher level English and certain Social Sciences courses were not offered in either semester or summer. Students required them to graduate in a timely fashion. Substitute courses or other means were created to accomodate that need internally for Orange graduation. However, New Paltz did not always count the alternative course as part of the JRTEP transfer package. We are looking to Banner for support in this initiative with improved student tracking.
Consequences of this initiative not being fundedStudents unable to complete their prescribed program in a timely fashion. Students losing course credits toward New Paltz JRTEP package. Eventually student frustration with the incomplete course offerings here, and potentially dropping out of the program.
