Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	The Student Senate, working in conjunction with the CIDE and the Chief Diversity Officer, has created a proposal to establish a Center for Cultural Diversity and Inclusion as a part of the existing student spaces in the lower levels of the Shepard Student Center and the Tower Building. Utilizing thematic decor, informational resources and displays, and programming, the Center seeks to honor the diversity of our college community and the SUNY Orange Diversity and Inclusion Plan by creating a safe and welcoming space that also serves to educate and encourage discussion around the idea of diversity.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	This is a unique opportunity to support a student-initiated proposal which, in turn, supports current college and SUNY-wide initiatives around diversity and inclusion. Allowing the students to take the lead on this initiative under the guidance of CSI, CIDE and the Chief Diversity Officer also creates a unique opportunity for applied learning to take place.

COLLEGE GOALS as of 2011 1. To provide high quality academic courses and programs that prepare a diverse student population to achieve its educational, employment and enrichment goals.	Create an environment which acknowledges and celebrates the diversity of our college community by creating a welcoming atmosphere and opportunities for education which, in turn, will help students be better prepared to be a part of a diverse workforce and society.
COLLEGE GOALS as of 2011 2. To engage learners in an environment that develops their knowledge and skills in critical thinking, information and technology literacy, effective communication and enhances their awareness of civic responsibility and cultural diversity.	The purpose of the Center for Cultural Diversity and Inclusion is to "enhance awareness of cultural diversity" and to create a learning environment where ideas can be explored and exchanged.
