Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	SUNY Orange is an institutional member of the Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley Colleges and Universities an organization promoting education, research, and public awareness of environmental issues effecting our region. Funding of this initiative will allow departmental faculty to actively participate in meetings, workshops, seminars sponsored by the Consortium and to engage in interactive projects with colleagues and students.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Orange Biology faculty/students would be unable to fully participate in the research and workshop opportunities available through this organization. These include; regional workshops, short courses on Hudson River ecology.

COLLEGE II: To offer a broad program of general education so that students learn to communicate and reason effectively; make independent judgments; and develop an appreciation for learning, a respect for diverse cultures and individuals and a desire for self and societal improvement. 1: To increase learning activities beyond the classroom for students including international studies.
COLLEGE VIII: To offer students the opportunity to learn with a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff committed to excellence in teaching and service to students. 1: To provide opportunities for faculty to retrain to meet college and personal needs.
COLLEGE VIII: To offer students the opportunity to learn with a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff committed to excellence in teaching and service to students. 3: To maintain and develop full-time faculty and staff and recruit diverse candidates for vacant positions in order to serve the educational needs of students.
AMP F: Professional Development b: Support sabbaticals, licensure and CEU’s, and attendance at national, regional and state conferences to stay abreast of current trends and to acquire new knowledge
AMP H: Collaboration and Partnerships a: Seek out new opportunities for collaboration and programming such as the Hudson Valley Consortium for Domestic Preparedness, Response and Recovery
