Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleCurrently the Biology Department employs a secretary in conjunction with another department ( Laboratory Technology )and this has been the case for at least 30years. With a Full Time staff of 10 faculty, 2 technical assistants, a BT 155 "supervisor", and more than 20 adjuncts requiring services during any particular semester. This no longer seems adequate....particularily during times of heavy use ( registration/advising peaks, budget preparation, end-of year reports, PRT etc. ). Added to this is the work our current secretary does in terms of Phlebotomy registration, MLT Acrediations and interactions with MLT Clinical Sites as well as handling numerous inquiries re "open sections" of biology courses. Given this workload and specific periods of particular need we may need additional short-term support through the mechanism of a "Secretarial Pool" managed through an appropriate administrative protocol.
