Initiative Title | Determine the best pathway for identifying students who may need assistance and refer them to the proper resources. |
---|---|
Submitted in Previous Year(s) | No |
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | With the recent changes in Student Success Center and the identification of gateway courses, the department is committed to helping students find success, particularly in their gateway courses. When issues/struggles can be addressed early on in a student's higher education experience, they are more likely to succeed and complete their academic program. Currently, it is common for an instructor to notice deficiencies and struggles and to simply suggest that students seek tutoring help. If our department were able to give more concrete instructions to students, and perhaps integrate some of the Student Success Center's strategies into our courses, students may benefit. |
