Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	There is a great need for the generation of valid and reliable data reports to be created and utilized. The College uses the Discoverer Reporting Tool to create reports from the Operational Data Store (where all of the College's Banner data is stored). This initiative is to advocate for the need for training in Discoverer/ODS. The Technical Assistants from both IR and ITS have essentially taught themselves how to navigate Discoverer in order to access data from ODS. As the College is requesting and needing additional data, the Technical Assistants need to advance their Discoverer skills. Armstrong-Smith Consulting (ASC) is the leader in creating (Oracle) Discoverer materials (we currently rely on their published Discoverer Handbook) and trainings...especially for SunGuard (Banner) schools utilizing their ODS. Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Not providing our primary Discoverer/ODS report writers with additional and advanced skills, the College will continue to be challenged in achieving its third Strategic Priority of effectively utilizing data for "decision-making regarding College operations and programming."

Expanding scope of responsibility and authority of the Planning Committee b. Improving the collection, usefulness and availability of planning data c. Developing and integrating into the operating life of the College the recommendations made by the Middle States Association’s Commission on Higher Education.	By increasing the knowledge and skills of our primary Discoverer/ODS Report writers, the College will be able to achieve the objectives of the Strategic Plan that include: "enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of report writing, developing methods for measuring success in programs and services and implementing data-driven informed planning and resource allocation."
