Endowed Lecture Series

Initiative TitleEndowed Lecture Series
Submitted in Previous Year(s)2019
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

It is important to have quality lectures that are not only informational but educational and which broaden the scope of the classroom or ordinary life. Lectures presented by Cultural Affairs are diverse in topic and offer to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community-at-large subjects of interest, timely issues, and opportunities to partake of Q & A with experts in their fields.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Unfortunately, no additional lectures will be able to be scheduled other than those which Cultural Affairs already does per year. Those are excellent. Having an endowed lecture series will allow for bringing highly recognized speakers of expertise. Having students, especially, plus faculty, staff, and the general community able to connect with leaders in their fields is a privilege and can be a life-changing experience. Direct interchange with experts and speakers of renown set an educational institution apart from others.

Institutional Goals

Goal How will the initiative support this institutional goal?
Having more funding for lectures by highly qualified speakers will be very good use of money because it opens more opportunities for learning --from the exact content of lecture as explained by the speaker, as well as peaking interest so that additional information may be wanted and sought and acquired by attendees well beyond the lecture.
