Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	Students have expressed interest in the current Summer Institute for Developmental Studies but are unable to attend morning classes because of time conflict with work schedules etc. Students who participate in the Institute benefit from increased interaction with their Instructors, peers and college staff.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Students take longer to complete their developmental education course requirements when they do not take summer courses. Not being able to take institute courses with enhanced academic support could result in decreased persistance towards attainment of academic goals.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 2: To provide appropriate credit and non-credit programs to satisfy changing Orange County needs and demographics.
COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 5: To improve access through alternative scheduling credit and non-credit programs for students.
COLLEGE VI: To provide access for a diverse student population. 1: To increase programs and services to address the changing demographic profile of Orange County.

MIDDLESTATES Standard12: General Education a: Departments must provide evidence of how assessment results are used to improve teaching and learning. This includes devising learning strategies to address student learning deficiencies and incorporating those into courses. These should then be reassessed to determine if the course improvements were effective.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
AMP II: Curriculum Change/Program Design a: Explore the need for evening, weekend and non-traditional scheduling options for the delivery of programs and curriculum to better meet the needs of diverse students and the workplace

AMP V: Student Support c: Enhance retention efforts through collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Development in areas such as academic advising and development and administration of specialized programs for at-risk students
