Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	NEC hosts a disproportionately small number of arts and cultural events although NEC students pay the same fees as all other SUNY Orange students. NEC needs Lyceum staff support and dedicated funding proportional to Newburgh student enrollment for arts and cultural events for Newburgh students and the larger eastern Orange community. Such programming supports the academic program, enriches the academic environment, and enlarges students' horizons while offering a much-needed and much-appreciated service to the community.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	The students at NEC will continue to have a second-class college experience, consisting largely of classes only.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 7: To actively market educational and cultural opportunities provided by the College to increase community awareness and involvement.
COLLEGE II: To offer a broad program of general education so that students learn to communicate and reason effectively; make independent judgments; and develop an appreciation for learning, a respect for diverse cultures and individuals and a desire for self and societal improvement. 1: To increase learning activities beyond the classroom for students including international studies.
MIDDLESTATES Standard 9: Student Support Services b: The college should re-evaluate the structure of the student development area to ensure resources are being allocated to best meet the needs of all learners, that functions of the various areas are clear, and that all constituents are able to participate in planning for student services.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
AMP II: Curriculum Change/Program Design b: Ensure an inclusion of the cultural arts, diversity, critical thinking, communication skills, information literacy etc. within the curriculum and programming for the community
AMP H: Collaboration and Partnerships g: Assertively seek relationships with Community Based Organizations, theatre or cultural groups, non-profit organizations and the business sector to provide training or credit programs onsite and to engage in win-win partnerships that enhance revenues for all parties
