Fall STEM Open House

Initiative TitleFall STEM Open House
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

In collaboration with academics, the Office of Admissions would like to host a Fall STEM Open House. This event would be a strong platform for promoting the new Rowley Center of Science and Engineering to prospective students and their families interested in one of the STEM fields. Strong emphasis will be placed on how the new CSE will promote academic opportunities and success. Among others, faculty from the Science, Math and Technology departments from the local high school would also be invited to learn more about our programming and facilities.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

As we see a declining high school graduation population, it is important for SUNY Orange to continue to find ways to compete with other institutions. Holding this type of event will help students understand the STEM field and how SUNY Orange can be a great stepping stone for academic success. If this program cannot be funded, we believe that these students will be less well informed and may choose another institution thus impacting enrollment.
