Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | To meet the expanding instructional needs of the Biology Departmentcreated by: 1) increased student demand ( student contact hours per semester has increased by more thantwofoldsince 2000 ); 2) ,Increasing course offerings at Newburgh; 3) requests to develop and add new courses by other Departments and Programs at the College ( Diagnostic Imaging, Cross-Sectional Anatomy; Nursing, Pathophysiology; Criminal Justice, Forensic Biology / Biotechnology; New Visions, additional sections of General Biology 1 & 2 ). With over 100 sections of courses offered by the Department during both Fall and Spring Semesters we typically employ more than 20 adjunct instructors per semester. Our capacity to expand our offerings to meet emergent requests and to maintain instructional quality will depend on meeting critical staffing needs. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | We will not be able to expand our offerings to meet existant requests and/or develop new programming. Maintaining academic quality is also an issue of concern. |
