Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	In 2021 two FT chemists retired leaving the department woefully understaffed in this area. Chemistry offerings have held relatively steady during the pandemic and our courses close out at 95% occupancy. We fortunately hired one full time chemist last year. We still need one more full-time chemist to bring us back to our pre-pandemic level..
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Additional classes will be covered by adjunct faculty or not offered. It is difficult to find quality part-time teachers with the appropriate level of chemistry experience, availability (daytime) and dedication. Maintenance, safety, students advising and upkeep of the lab space is difficult with part-time coverage.
