| Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | In 2021 two FT chemists retired leaving the department woefully understaffed in this area. Chemistry offerings have held relatively steady during the pandemic and our courses close out at 95% occupancy. We fortunately hired one full time chemist last year. We still need one more full-time chemist to bring us back to our pre-pandemic level.. |
| Consequences of this initiative not being funded | Additional classes will be covered by adjunct faculty or not offered. It is difficult to find quality part-time teachers with the appropriate level of chemistry experience, availability (daytime) and dedication. Maintenance, safety, students advising and upkeep of the lab space is difficult with part-time coverage. |
