Level 3 (Academic Affairs and Student Services, Provost, VP Office)
This initiattive combines similar inititatives from different departments in an effort to provide a more comrehensive upgrade campus-wide. See individual academic department initiatives for details.Level 4 (PBIE Committee)
This initiative combines initiatives from different departments of the college in an effort to provide a more comprehensive upgrade campus-wide:
Biology: 48 adjustable chairs: $7500
Business Management: 30 desks and chairs: $6000
Science and Engineering: Replace antiquated drafting tables: $3250
Biology: Update, reconfigure and renovate BT 121 to increase use and number of students utilizing lab: $24,000
Learning Assistance Services: New furniture and signage for tutorial center: $1680
Applied Technology: Faculty desks, chairs and printer tables: $6000
The impact of this initiative is to ensure that non-computer related technologies or tools and capital equipment needs are kept current to provide a clean, safe and accessible college. Replacement and addition of furniture in various academic departments is a necessity of a learning institution with inventory replenishment needs for aging and broken furniture. Investment in new furniture is a reflection of the college's commitment to providing students and faculty with all tools the college can provide to ensure a safe learning environment and enhance the student experience by providing students and faculty what is needed to fulfill the needs of ongoing college operations and functionality. The Biology Department reports that stools of ancient vintage are disruptive to a comfortable, productive learning experience and that the stools without backs present safety concerns as well. The safety, attractiveness and accessibility are needs that must be addressed in enhancing the overall student experience at the college.
