AI has caused disruption in the campus community’s learning environment. The continued upgrade and multiplication of AI tools makes intentional and unintentional AI use pervasive. The library’s expertise in information literacy offers opportunities for faculty and students to learn more about the plusses and minuses of AI. The particular library message is for generative AI users to fact check the output they get and be especially aware of that AI frequently composes citations that are imaginary. Faculty have access to the AI detector in TurnItIn but they need to understand that it is one tool that can be combined with others to reliably detect AI use in student submissions.
