Initiative TitleHire a full-time employee to provide support for internships and community outreach
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

Two departments in the BMST Division, Computer Science & Technology and Business, have required internship courses that fulfill coursework in the AAS Networking, AAS Accounting, AAS Business Management, AAS Marketing, AAS Medical Office, and AAS Office Technologies degree programs.  The Internship Coordinator provides critical support for these departments our students. The person in this position also provides support and feedback to students in resume development and the interviewing skills (an area that many of our students have little experience in). When students are planning to enter the workforce, they need this continued support.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

I fear a disaster of many students needing required internships and no one in a position to fill them.

Department GoalsSupport Chairs and faculty in the BMST division by encouraging their successes and understanding their needs., Provide the best teaching/learning environment as fiscally and logically possible.
