This fall our ratio of adjunct faculty was close to two adjuncts to every full-time instructor (this included the one temporary full-time hire).  This faculty position has been unfilled for several years creating a situation in which department members must assume increased responsibilities for all assessment activities.  In addition, the large number of adjuncts makes it extremely difficult to orient and supervise these instructors to the courses, SLOs, and procedures, and expectations of this department. The department is in need of a "Jack of all trades" - a faculty member well-versed in composition and able to teach some 200-level electives.
