Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	To increase offerings - needed in Human Services Degree and to better serve the 400+ Psychology "majors" currently at SUNY Orange. The rapid increase in students enrolled in the Human Services AS degree (Spring 2008 = 4 students; Spring 2009 = 60+ students). We will quickly face the need of offering more upper level courses. The department has had to reduce the number of introductory courses due to the lack of day instructors. Adjuncts are primarily available after 6 p.m.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	New program and concentration will not meet the growing needs of your community. The department will be forced to reduce the number of introductory sections to meet the need and demand of upper level courses offerings. With enrollment increasing in these economic times, the demand for General Psychology will not be possible. General Psychology is a requirement in all AA degree programs, most transfer programs and many AAS programs.
