Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | The Center for Student Success is one of three locations on the Newburgh campus where students are able to utilize computers and printers. We currently support student printing with a printer that is not intended for high volume printing. With the increase in usage for support services comes an increase in general usage for Newburgh's Center for Student Success as a multi-purpose space. Further, starting in Fall 2019 all Reading/Writing Center printing has been re-routed to this one printer as well. Previous to COVID-19, the purchasing of printer paper to support student printing needs accounts for almost all of the $300 Newburgh Office Supply line. We anticipate spending at least $318 for the current academic year on paper alone (approximately 1 10-ream box per month), which does not account for basic office supply ordering within our current office supply line. We are requesting an increase of the Newburgh Learning Center office supply line to $550, as well as requesting the acquisition of a higher volume printer to create a more reliable printing resource for students on the Newburgh campus. The Center for Student Success is utilized as a multi-purpose space, and all enhancements to (not only our services) but our functionality only increases student engagement within the overall space. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | Student need for access to basic services such as printing will continue to outweigh our ability to meet those needs. Further, troubleshooting printer issues on a printer intended for single office use accounts for much of our front desk's time. |
