The concept is so interdisciplinary and creates a project that includes small exhibits in three exhibit spaces in Kaplan Hall, a large exhibit in Orange Hall Gallery—exhibits of paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, collages, fiber/fabric, mixed media, new media; utilizes the two greenhouses -- one on each campus campuses; presents poetry about and for the exhibits and read by the poets; music about plants and health and played at the receptions; lectures, film, master classes about plant health and its importance to health of living beings given by internal and external experts, and engages public and private partnerships; and enlists the help, support, and expertise of Botany/Biology, greenhouse staffers, Sustainability program, Wellness, Movement Science; and enthusiasm from Biology, English, Art, Music, Global Studies to inform students and the college community and the community-at-large.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Additional funding is not being sought as monies will come from current budget lines.

Department Goals Cultural Affairs shall support the SUNY Orange College Goals by providing high quality programs to achieve its educationally enrichment goals through creative collaboration with diverse faculty/staff, public/private partnerships, and expert presenters.

Institutional Goals

Goal How will the initiative support this institutional goal?
This type of programming requires further connections between internal and external constituents. In so doing, the college community and the community-at-large work together and receive mutually beneficial partnerships and educational opportunities. This hopefully, fosters future relationships for students to learn the value of working on community projects while gaining knowledge about indigenous plants as well as the relevance of our region within the world environment.
