Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleThe Apple iPad is an emerging piece of technology that is becoming widely adopted. The small, portable tablet device allows reading books, watching movies and accessing the internet. For the faculty in the Behavioral Sciences department, the iPad can serve to meaningfully incorporate ebooks into instruction. To this point, despite the pleas of textbook publishing representatives, no faculty member in our department has adopted ebooks. The use of an iPad would let faculty work with an ebook during class preparation, with students on a one-on-one basis and to the entire class through a projector. We hope that this would increase student engagement with course material as well. We would like to purchase four iPads for department members to explore their use in teaching.
