Marketing and Communications Assistant

Initiative TitleMarketing and Communications Assistant
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

The Communications staff, by comparisons to many of our sister community colleges in SUNY, is understaffed on the marketing/communications side. An assistant in the role envisioned here would help the College expand our publications and marketing productions, greatly expand our web and digital presences, and support marketing initiatives for TV, radio, print and digital campaigns. The College currently has a strategic priority to “Expand the visibility of the College’s excellent programs and services through strategic marketing efforts.” We are doing this to the best of our ability with the staff on hand, but could greatly enhance our effectiveness and reach with an assistant. This position was actually advertised to be filled in 2017 but was pulled off the table when enrollment came in under projections and a series of open position searches were halted.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

We will have limited ability to expand our communications and marketing at a time when student recruitment and retention is vital to the College, particularly in growing areas such as social media and digital marketing.
