Over the last few years, the number of students required to take Fundamentals of Communication has increased substantially, putting demand for the course almost on a par with ENG 101, and a strain on the Arts and Comm Department to staff the increased number of sections. There has been no additional faculty added to serve this population. Qualified communication adjuncts are not available in this area. The Department is adding two Communication degree programs, which will place new demands on the Department to teach disciplines not presently represented by the current faculty, including Media/Technology Studies, and upper level courses in Interpersonal Communication, and Intercultural Communication. This position is highly in demand and imperative for the department and college, especially since the course is required by the bulk of Orange students.
