Pediatric Radiology Mannekin

Initiative TitlePediatric Radiology Mannekin
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

It is critical for dental hygiene students to have experience exposing pediatric patients for radiology needs.  However, it is unethical to mandate that they expose live subjects.  The need is for a mannikin to simulate this experience should a live patient not present.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Our Accrediting agency has previously made recommendations that the program acquire this equipment.  Our sister institutions in the state have this equipment.  We are seeking this to meet the requirements for our students, and to provide an equitable education to that of other state institutions.
