Students serving as peer assistants will help with the much overburdened task of academic advisement, as well as assisting with open houses, campus tours and other public events of the college that are now frequently understaffed. These peer advisers on other campuses are proven ingredients in student retention, and in facilitating student transition from high school to college. Orange already uses student ambassadors without proper training or compensation. This will formalize that process, aid the institution, and provide future leadership skills for peer assistants.
