Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	Pre-semester interventions – Students who place in Basic Writing Skills 2 or Elementary Algebra will have the opportunity to participate in an intensive 20-hour review and then will be eligible to retake the placement test before the Fall 2011 semester begins and potentially place into college level courses.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	This initiative has the potential to reduce the number of incoming students taking developmental courses.

Funding for all three Developmental Oversight Team initiatives, Developmental Learning Communities, Post-semester Interventions, and Pre-semester interventions, is currently being sought through a Title 3 grant. However, whether or not the grant proposal is funded, it is in the best interests of the college as a whole, and its under-prepared students in particular, to support these initiatives to the furthest extent possible.
