Initiative Title | Replace chemistry analyzers that no longer function |
Submitted in Previous Year(s) | 2017 |
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | 4 chemistry analyzers are no longer functioning in the chemistry lab and must be replaced for MLT students so they can gain skills in pipetting and use of this equipment before they go into clinicals. These analyzers will also be used by faculty to determine student understanding and competency after completion of clinical rotation.
Replacement of this equipment will also help our program in our upcoming accreditation.
To comply with licensure and accreditation requirements, equipment must be up to date so that students can learn the latest skills.
|
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | MLT students taking Clinical Chemistry will not be able to perform chemistry analysis in the lab due to insufficient number of analyzers. Students practice on these analyzers to enhance their skills in pipetting as well as understanding the theory behind each analyte being tested, This lab supports the MLT student experience while they are in clinicals and ensures their success out in the field. |
Department Goals | Purchase of various laboratory equipment for the MLT and Phlebotomy programs for student success and successful accreditation outcomes. |
